Born in Istanbul in 1959, Serap Korhan studied Public Administration at Marmara University, Political Science Faculty. After a career in banking industry,she devoted herself to painting.
SerapKorhan is a self-taught painter.She works in a number of mediums, but prefers encaustic.Besides many mixed media and sculptural mixed media techniques, she works on mark-making,graphite,ink and calligraphy which are compatible with contemporary encaustic hot wax painting; an ancient technique involving heated beeswax and pigments for incredible visual and textural effects.
Preparing her own paint and medium from organic matter which enables her to reach artistic freedom, she creates abstract pieces of encaustic art that time can never wither.
